How does technology distract you from paying attention?
We might spend more time using technology than paying attention and because of they we might not listen attentively in class and miss out on certain information.

The things are about problems I am facing currently in life, and not caring enough for the people around me.

1) Some people are good at starting things, others at finishing things. Which one are you? Why?

I’m good at both, but better at starting things. I can start a discussion easily, like i usually do. I am also able to stop a discussion also but to me it would be easier to start one.

2) What kinds of things do you need to go each day in order to feel like your day is a success?

I need to complete the tasks I was assigned to, did something I thought was meaningful, and live the day to its fullest.

What does a person of good character look like?

Someone who is of good character will take up responsibility and will not back out when faced with hard challenges.

How does one measure up to the description of a good character?

One should take note of their bad points and try to change them.

How would others say about the character of you as an individual?

They say i am someone with strong character and is not easily influenced by others.

In which area and how would you like to grow and develop in your character?

Leadership skills and I plan to take on more roles and responsibility to develop my character.

1 Why is communication important?

without it, people cannot get messages across and it is essential in daily lives.

2 What is/are your favourite form/s of communication?

verbal communication. Why?

It is more formal and easier for me to get messages across and you are seeing the person face-to-face and you can get an immediate response.

3 How do you decide which form of communication to use in a situation?

if the message is not very urgent, i can send an sms. But if it is urgent, i can call using the cellphone.

4 What difficulties do you face in communicating with others?

If they do not speak the same language as i or they are deaf and i do not know sign language, it will be harder to communicate and you can use body language, but i must watch your movements, as others may have other views of that movement.

Will human beings’ selfish acts bring about the Earth’s doom?

I think it is only a matter of time before we cause the earth’s doom if we continue burning fossil fuels, cutting down trees and so on.

What we can we do to save the Earth?

1. We can conserve energy and resources. Conserve energy by switching off power sources when not in use. Conserve resources by not wasting them.

1. We can put the 3 Rs to use. Firstly, we can reduce our rate of burning fossil fuels, polluting the environment and deforestation. Secondly, we can reuse materials and things that we have used before. Like example, we can reuse plastic bags. Lastly, we can recycle plastic bottles, glass bottles and papers. We can drop the recyclable materials at the recycling point.

1. We can innovate for the Earth. It means think of solutions to help the Earth and not lead it to its doom. There are ideas brained stormed by scientists all over the world. The ideas are called Geo-engineering. It involves attempting to cool the climate through planetary-scale actions like blocking sunlight by stationing mirrors in space. Others include seeding the seas with iron to bring the planktons from the seabed to the surface as they can absorb more greenhouse gases, and injecting sulfur into the upper atmosphere to create sunlight-deflecting clouds. But as effective as they sound, they are currently under science-fiction and encounter many setbacks. Even though it is within human means, the cost of building the required things may put the world into bankruptcy.

reflection on the orientation camp

i have to admit, camp was tiring, but it was fun. We got to know our classmates better and bond with them. The 5 rules at the camp were meaningful: 1) be positive. if we do not have positive to the camp and other situations, we tend to not do our best and not participate much. 2) don't pin-point other. Even if someone is the cause the team lose, we shouldn't blame him, as people makes mistakes and a team should be together and cooperative. 3) respect. One example of respect is when people are talking. If they are talking, we should not talk and listen to them. 4) commitment. It is very important as if you do not commit yourself to something, you can never do it properly with your full efforts. 5) don't forget the little things and little ones. Sometimes during group work, we tend to forget others. Then, they will feel left out. Another meaning is that we can't forget small things that don't really seem important to us.

After this camp, i found out there are people with different personalities in my class and we should still treat them with respect even though they seem different to us.

i understand that it means that we don’t have to just learn in the classroom, but also out of the class boundaries.

it is important as it will expand our possible areas of learning and help us improve.

I understand that “forging excellence” means that we have to try our best and stretch our potential to the maximum.

I think that my ability to work well in hands on activities and communicate well with others.

I can contribute by helping my classmates when they are in need.

reflections on "building bridges"

How do you feel about working in a team on the bridge-building project?

I feel that it is a great exposure to the outside world. Also, through it, we learnt about the different types of bridges.

What do you think about your interactions with the members in your team?

I think my interaction with the other members is good, since we got along well.

Did you experience any fear, discomfort, or apprehension working with this team? Why?

No. They were great people to work with. We can communicate well even though this was the first day we met and although we sometimes disagree on our plans, everything worked out in the end.

How did you overcome it?

I did not have any problems to overcome.
